GAGASI FM's Zookey Zarling has apparently been shown the door.
Sources said the presenter, whose real name is Zukiswa Vutela and hosts the Tea To Lunch Time show, was given the boot on Tuesday.
She was allegedly axed after failing to show up for an assigned shift on the breakfast show, I Love Mornings.
Her manager, Phinda Magwaza, confirmed the news and said: "It is true Zookey was shown the door, but the issue is not over. We are still going to engage Gagasi FM for closure."
"Zookey had some outstanding issues with the station and we will put out an official statement."
According to insiders, Zookey had a dispute with her colleagues, Mzokhona "Mzokoloko" Gumede and Nonjabulo "Njabs" Zwane, because they made comments on a newspaper article revealing her private life.
She apparently complained to management and a hearing was scheduled for Tuesday – but she was given the boot before it could take place.
Gagasi FM's Khulekani Shandu said: "We would like to state that Zookey was not fired. She chose not to arrive to do her show on Tuesday, which was in breach of her contract.
"The matter is being handled internally. The breakfast show team sat down with Zookey and apologised for the incident. I do not understand the relevance at this point," Shandu said.
A few weeks ago Sunday Sun ran a story saying the father of Zookey's baby is Uzalo actor Kay Sibiya and reported he was not taking care of the child. Zookey's contract with the station expires next June.
