Fresh from his recent break up with Sbahle Mpisane, Itumeleng Khune has spent most of the week trying to defend his selection as part of the country's Olympic men's football team. But it all seems to have been forgotten after his heroics against Brazil on Thursday.

You see, Itu is back to being Mzansi's favourite football bae!

The footballer has had a rough last few weeks both on and off the pitch. Not only has he had to get over the heartbreak and mockery that he got following his split from girlfriend Sbahle, but he has also faced criticism from some football experts who believe that he is no better than his second Jody February, and was not special enough to warrant one of the three spots available to players over 23 years of age.

But all of that seemed to have been forgotten on Thursday night when he formed part of a Bafana Bafana defence that held football giants Brazil, and its superstar striker Neymar, to a goalless draw.

Soon Itu's name was all over social media, trending with over 3 000 tweets.
